Fire safety training FAQs

Is fire safety training a legal requirement?
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the responsible person must provide staff with adequate fire safety information, instruction and training. Practical training is how you meet that duty and evidence it.
Where does the training take place?
Usually at your premises, so it can be grounded in your building, escape routes and procedures. We agree the format with you.
How often should staff be trained?
Typically when they start, when things change, and at regular refresher intervals. Fire wardens usually need more frequent refreshers than general staff.
Do you provide a record of attendance?
Yes. We provide a record of who attended and what was covered, so you can evidence the training to an inspector or insurer.
